My name is Mary Browne; I’m 61 and live with my partner and daughter in Walthamstow, East London. I’ve worked in many sectors, from catering to youth work, childcare, and playwork, as a singer, musician, and event manager, to teaching English and Literacy. I have a house, garden, cat, and an allotment. I have been involved in many voluntary committees and associations, including a Development Education Centre, Housing Co-op, and Allotment Association.  I bring many skills and experiences to my business and am hardworking, reliable, flexible, and creative.   

After a long career as a Lecturer and Curriculum Manager in a college, I recently decided to focus on my passion for acting.  I now have an agent, I’m on Spotlight, I workshop and practice my craft, and I’m starting to secure paid acting roles.

But, as you probably know, most creatives—actors, musicians, filmmakers, and directors—must supplement their income with other work, particularly since the pandemic.   So, I set up Clarity, a business that helps and supports creatives and small business owners in sharing their skills, experiences, talents, and services with others.  This sharing might be a workshop, talk, Q&A session, event, or concert. 

Clarity's vision is to work with you and help address some of the hurdles hindering your business growth. My job at Clarity is to liaise with clients to develop and administer their projects, find out how best to help create a new income stream, share ideas and experiences, and practically support with organizing this in whichever way works best.

My love of learning and commitment to empowerment adds to this mix of skills and experiences. Helping people to help themselves is a central part of my work at Clarity. 

I’m excited about what the future holds for Clarity and me and look forward to working with new clients, new projects, and in new creative ways.
